Description
Dragonflies Guide
This Dragonflies guide features the adults of 16 damselfly species and 28 dragonfly species: the most common of the 52 species that had been recorded in Great Britain and Ireland at time of publication.
Beautiful colour paintings are grouped by similarity, with separate images of males and females forms for most species.
Sometimes called the ‘birdwatcher’s insect’, dragonflies and damselflies are large and charismatic insects with a distinctive flight pattern. Dragonfly and damselfly identification in the field can initially be daunting, but with practice most British species can be identified when in flight.
Accompanying text provides extra background information on life-cycle and feeding.
The Dragonflies guide was produced in partnership with the Natural History Museum.
